Huddersfield

Tell us about you! I’m an experienced and professional carer with a background in working with children, adults and the elderly and terminally ill. I’m fully flexible on hours of work and own transport. I look at my career in care as a calling rather than a job!

As a clinical trained carer I have very strong communication and listening skills, sensitivity to people’s needs, a sense of humour and a calm and gentle demeanour enables me to build rapport and trust with people of all spheres of life.
I have a genuine love of people, learning about their stories and spending time with them. However, I am also very respectful of people’s boundaries, privacy and dignity and treat each person as an individual.

Even prior to working as a clinical carer, I feel that my work history provided me with all the necessary transferable skills for the role so that it was natural for me to move into this more rewarding and fulfilling career field.

I have experience of people facing roles and I pride myself on my ability to listen and extract information sensitively, building a picture of individual needs and tailoring my response accordingly. My previous background in senior business positions and tutoring involved working alongside other organisations effectively, ensuring legislation, policies and procedures are followed.

My roles within hairdressing and fashion involved building trust, technical expertise, ensuring hygiene, working respectfully with people’s physical space.

During that period of my career I became involved in charity work for men and women recovering from breast cancer and that instilled in me the desire to make more of a contribution to the community.

I enjoy art, art and crafts, the theatre, cinema, walking, fashion, reading, education, history. I also have an interest in pets; dogs & cats. I also like hiking and the great outdoors.

I am a highly experienced live in clinical carer with over 20 years experience in the following fields of work:

Home care in Monmouth - Deanna

Deanna - home care in Monmouth.png

Monmouth

Tell us about you! Hi, I am a 54 year old married mum of two teenage daughters. I like to read, attempt crosswords, I enjoy shopping and discovering new places. I like to walk and enjoy the scenery and wildlife.

My family are my world. I enjoy travel. Over the last 30 years, my husband and I have lived in Australia, Hong Kong (where our daughters were born) and we spent 10 years living in Dubai. My husband is still working there, commuting every 2-3 weeks. We moved to Monmouth for our daughters’ schooling.

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1987 and worked in various fields in Wales, Melbourne and Hong Kong. Sadly nurse licensing laws in Middle East prevented me from practicing in Dubai, so I worked as a 1:1 support with a little boy with learning difficulties.

I have the qualities to be a carer. When I was just 13/14 years old I used to voluntarily visit my local 'old people's home just to chat with the residents, play games, or paint the ladies nails. I think it's in my nature to be nurturing.

Availability: Part time hours. 2-3 hours twice/three times a week.

Deanna is compassionate and nurturing.

Private home care in Peterborough - Dorothy

Peterborough

Tell us about you! I love looking after my family and seeing to their needs, making sure they have a cooked dinner and clean house to come home to. I am a social butterfly and enjoy socialising with my friends. I am very good at making people feel happy and appreciated. I look at life in a positive light and this helps me appreciate even the little things in life.

I have had a lot of experience caring for the elderly and those with illness.

At the age of 17, I looked after my mother for a year, she unfortunately had lung cancer and passed away. I then decided to become an Au'pair, so I was attending to children full time.

I went to college when I was 22 and qualified in Nursery nursing, I started childminding in the 90's and did so for 20 years, it was extremely rewarding.

I was then asked by a friend if I would care for her elderly mother, Edna, who was 99 living with dementia and was blind. I looked after Edna till she sadly passed away. This is when I was asked by 2 other families to look after their parents. I did this for 3 years when unfortunately my daughter took ill and needed a carer. So I became my daughters’ full time carer.

I love the elderly, have a caring and loving personality and genuinely enjoy looking after people and making them happy.

Availability: I am available all times and can start immediately.

Dorothy has a variety of caring experiences.

I enjoy reading, particularly crime novels and always have a book on the go. I love listening to music although unfortunately I can't sing but do remember lyrics well! I have 2 Jack Russell dogs whom I have enjoyed walking for many years. Unfortunately they are elderly now, 14 and 15 years old so I now spend quality time with them giving them love and cuddles.

I also have a campervan and my partner and I love having holidays around the country and I particularly enjoy spending time at the beach and visiting national trust houses as I love the history of them.

I would say I am great at listening and communicating and offering advice and support to people. People have always said I am observant, calm and friendly.

I have completed my health & social care level 2, 3 & 4 and I have over 10 years’ experience working with adults with learning disabilities in a college/residential setting between 1999 until 2012.

Between 2012 to 2014 I fostered my 15 year old nephew and supported him through his final year at school and then on to college and into his own supported living home.

From January 2015 until the end of August 2019 I supported a lady with Parkinson’s and dementia.

Most recently I am working a few hours a week looking after a lady living with Alzheimer’s who lives in her own home and cleaning for a lady through the week.
