Tell us about you!

I play guitar, banjo and and fiddle and I play with my partner and in a couple of non-professional bands just for fun.

I enjoy the outdoors including dog walking, gardening and camping in the summer. I enjoy being with people and friends (when out of lock-down).

I do enjoy working and having a focus. I like cooking and finding new recipes to try, up-cycling and painting furniture and I have been learning upholstery.

I am organised, fit and healthy and have a good sense of humour, I am kind and patient and enjoy being with people.

During the last 36 years I have had a wide experience in work. Being a professional carer is new to me but I do have experience in caring for others.

Most recently I have been a self-employed beauty therapist which involves being close and personal with clients. I have decided that I would like to move away from the beauty industry and use my interpersonal skills and experience to provide support and care for others.

Other experience includes spending around 12 years as a volunteer at Oakhaven Hospice about 8 years of which were in the complimentary therapy department so working hands on with patients, their carers and the bereaved.

I also used to care for my mother in law, when she stayed for a week or 2 at a time, this would include dressing, showering, changing her pads, taking her out in a wheel chair and keeping her company. She is now in a care home.

Availability: I am hoping to work about 20 hours a week, but don’t have to restrict that to particular days.

Tell us about you!

My interests are walking, the gym, swimming, music, poetry, psychology, sociology and listening to podcasts on current affairs.

I feel I am good at communicating with people and showing compassion and empathy for people of all walks of life. I am passionate about helping people and making a positive impact in society.

I have a keen interest in personal development and I am always looking for new skills to learn and often self fund myself towards courses, for example my degree, NVQ level 3 in health and social care, as well as online training certificates to broaden my learning.

I have worked within a variety of care settings on and off for 21 years, which include working for myself delivering care in people's homes. I have also looked after family members who have health issues from epilepsy and stoma care.

I am confident in using manual handling equipment which include hoists, stand aids etc. I have also had care roles as a senior member of staff, which have included supervising and training new staff, medication ordering and administration, client finances, care plan documentation and liaising with external health providers for the people I have looked after.

Availability: I am available Monday to Friday mornings and would consider Saturday mornings as well.
