I'm a dementia friend (Alzheimer’s Society initiative) and have completed the training as part of my job with nationwide.
I also have personal experience of dementia as unfortunately my grandma was diagnosed several years ago.
I've seen first hand how devastating this is not just for the person but also for the family and close friends.
I complete vulnerability training as part of my current job and actively research different conditions I come across in my work.
Both my parents were nurses so I grew up in nursing homes, helping with feeding residents at Christmas. I'm confident and always happy to pull my sleeves up and get stuck in.
I'm a specialist support manager for nationwide building society 3 days a week, working with members affected by cancer and life limiting conditions to help them manage their finances.
Outside of work I'm a mum to my 20 year old autistic son and my 4 year old daughter. We love days out, cooking, baking cupcakes and reading.
I also foster dogs as part of a rescue and adopted my first foster in January this year. I currently have a foster dog in assessment who will soon be ready for her forever home. I'm family orientated with a great sense of humour and a passion for helping people.
