Tell us about you!
I’m a people person, I like talking to people and helping them out where I can. I often put people before myself but I always go the extra mile to make someone’s day if I can. My hobbies include cake baking, I have run my own successful cake business for 7 years, it’s recently taken a back seat since Covid.
When I’m not working, I spend my free time with my family. I have one son who’s 16, and three step children. My other hobbies would include household DIY, crafting and photography.
I became a carer after my grandma fell terminally ill several years ago and I noticed the compassion that her caregivers had. I wanted to be able to have the opportunity to give back to the community and do that for someone else’s grandparent/parent.
I have a caring and compassionate attitude towards life and it reflects in my work, I try to go above and beyond to ensure that even the littlest of things can make someone’s day a little easier. Nothing beats a smile when you just don’t feel like smiling.
I thrive of making a difference and I am a strong believer in helping the client maintain their independence, showing them respect and giving them my trust. I know it’s hard to introduce new people into a routine but I feel it’s important to a build rapport and get to know the little things your client likes.
I have also had experience with personal care, administering medication, filling out charts and daily notes, arranging for district nurses to attend clients, the application of topical creams, the use of PPE, manual handling, general housework, meal prepping, companionship, shopping, pharmacy and running, errands.
